Established in 1988, Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research, Polish Academy of Sciences, is a leading R&I centre that brings together interdisciplinary research that span plant/animal-derived food to reproductive biology to design high quality food products and optimize consumers’ well-being. This objective is pursued through activities that include training young scientists, investing in modern technologies, disseminating research findings to society, and stimulating cooperation between science and business to foster socioeconomic development. Research tasks of the Institute are being accomplished in the Division of Food Sciences and Division of Reproductive Biology, with the main focus put on:
- Designing convenient and trustworthy food with optimal nutritional value, whilst ensuring a high level of animal welfare and a limited impact on the environment;
- developing personalized nutrition solutions for specific target groups to alleviate risk of diet-borne diseases, incl. allergy, obesity, diabetes type 2, infertility
- Exploitation of state-of-the-art foodomics techniques to validate functionality and authenticity of novel food products
- Utilizing agri-food biomaterial, including side streams and waste, for sustainable and eco-friendly foods
