This year’s 8th edition of the international conference “Environmental Protection and Energy” will be enriched with topics related to safety and sustainable food production. As part of the #AnnualFoodAgenda project, a special session “xKIC: EIT Food and InnoEnergy for climate-smart, sustainable food system in Europe” will be held during the conference, during which experts from the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the food concern MASPEX will present the latest research and innovative activities in the field of aquaculture and a sustainable food supply chain.
The part of the conference powered by EIT Food #AnnualFoodAgenda will be opened with a lecture “Planetary crisis: mechanisms and perspectives” by Prof. Szymon Malinowski, Director of the Institute of Geophysics, University of Warsaw.
The organizer of the conference “Environmental Protection and Energy” is the Silesian University of Technology. The patron of the event is the National Center for Research and Development, the Polish Chamber of Chemical Industry and the Mayor of Gliwice.

- Szymon Piotr Malinowski – Polish atmospheric physicist, Professor of Earth Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Director of the Institute of Geophysics at the University of Warsaw and the chairman of the interdisciplinary advisory board for the climate crisis by the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Protagonist of a documentary directed by Jonathan L. Ramsey “It’s Okay to Panic”(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osm5vyJjNY4), in which he warns of the impending climate disaster.
- Radosław Kowalski – Assistant Professor in Department of Gamete and Embryo Biology at the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn. His research ground is concentrated on aquatic species gamete preservation and aquatic animal reproduction. He is the main scientific consultant for Polish Trout Breeders Association.
