What is the science behind food? What are the researchers and industry experts doing to produce healthy and sustainable food that could be trusted by all? These are the questions we discussed during “Trust your Food” #AnnualFoodAgenda workshops engaging 279 pupils and teachers from Polish schools.
Last Sunday, February 9, 2020, CIAL-CSIC, Research Institute of Food Sciences, organized the Trusting in food: the history of wine and the fair “the key is the label”. This activity framed in the European Annual Food Agenda project, was developed within the Gastrofestival of the CaixaForum in Madrid with the aim of showing the consumer the keys to understand the foods they consume and the functioning of the food world.
During this day, more than 200 people were able to participate in a conference as well as different interactive workshops related to the authenticity of food, pollution and food safety. They explained to them firsthand what information they should look for in a food to know about their allergens, composition or place of origin, among other data of interest.
On the other hand, Mª Victoria Moreno Arribas, scientific researcher and responsible for the Annual Food Agenda project at the CSIC was in charge of presenting the strategic lines of the European EIT FOOD program of which this initiative is part. Among them are actions to promote education frameworks around the food of the future in which the consumer has a leading role.
To conclude, Victoria Moreno offered an informative conference on new challenges in the field of wine and consumer preferences. With this activity, the first event at European level was framed within the Annual Food Agenda project.
